Another late to rise day. Gotta get to bed earlier I guess.
Spent the morning going over some documents to learn a bit about the project I’m going to be working on this week. Learning some of the business rules for the program/web application and some of the specs for the pages I’ll be creating. Also reviewed another chapter in “Learning SQL” which is a pretty good book thus far.
Once my supervisor got in I went over and spent probably about an hour going over the things I’d be working on for the bulk of the afternoon. Learned a bit more about the web site designer tool that is a work in progress tool we use to speed along development of the sites we create for our clients. Also learned a few things about the structure of the web app to help things make a bit more sense.
Then I got down to the nitty gritty spending adding a new tab to a pop-up window designed for reviewing information and submitting a payment. The bit I added checked the database and reported back some information for administrator review. It was relatively simple as most things have been so far. The hard part always seems to be finding my way around the database and finding all the bits of information I need to work with in order to get the appropriate info on the screen.
That took a couple hours and then it was back with my supervisor to learn about the first piece of a two part addition to the application. This piece gave me a major challenge for the rest of the day trying to find my way around the database again and use the appropriate data to create the changes that are necessary. I have quite a bit to finish up in the morning but hopefully I’ll get it knocked out before my supervisor arrives.
Lunch today was a sandwich made with leftover grilled chicken. Which reminds me…I still have to go make tomorrow’s lunch!
